What is Ground School and Why Do I Need It?

Ground School is the way we impart our knowledge to you in a safe, structured environment. You are required by the FAA to complete a specified number of hours covering various topics in order to be allowed to take and pass a written test known as the FAA Knowledge Exam. At Sky Safety, we offer three types of ground school to accommodate students' different learning styles.
Traditional Ground School

Our Traditional Ground School is just what you think of when you think of classroom instruction. It is instructor led with peers sitting to your left and right, all of which to help guide you through your lessons. The course is eight weeks long and typically is held three days per week in the evenings to help alleviate any issues from those that work during the day. However, if we receive enough interest in a class held at a different time, we can create a class with a schedule that works for those individuals as well. At the end of the course, you can receive a part 141 graduation certificate that allows you to take the FAA Knowledge Exam. Our 2024 Private Pilot courses are planned to begin January 8th, March 11th, May 13th, July 15st & Septemer 16th, 2024. Online Ground School

Our Online Ground School program is the epitome of the term "flexible". This course allows you to study anywhere, at any time, for any duration. This course allows you to progress as quickly or as slowly as you feel comfortable with. The information is presented in a very clear, logical format yet is very easy to follow and understand. At the end of the online curriculum, you will receive an endorsement that allows you to take the FAA Knowledge Exam. The Online Ground School is available at anytime for purchase and it is simple to access. Hybrid Ground School

Our Hybrid Ground School is a very popular choice to provide you with ground instruction. It is the same online curriculum as our Online Ground School, however it is accompanied with face-to-face instruction to ensure you are grasping the material properly. This provides the security felt with having a personal interaction with your instructor yet provides you with the freedom and flexibility of the Online Ground School. The face-to-face instruction periods are scheduled by you at a time most convenient for you.
